I strongly believe business can be a force for good. You may wonder how businesses can even ponder to be a force for good. After all, is it not all about profit and Darwinism, etc.? Do we not live in a capitalist world, full of overcrowded markets where competition has to be cut throat?
Over the next decades, integration of migrants and refugees and their descendants will be one of the biggest challenges to open western societies and economies.
“Wir schaffen das!” was Angela Merkel’s motto to embrace a welcome culture in Germany. Other countries have not been so welcoming but are still facing the same or similar challenges. Continue reading Integration
Well, where do I start? I am a big supporter of global partnership, co-operation and being friendly with each other as this is the only way we can move towards sustainable development of our world. Our big challenges do not care about borders, nations, ethnicity, religion or profit.
Recent trends in Europe, the US and other parts of the world seem to confirm that the world is moving in the opposite direction and that is why I want help counteract such trends and raise the flag for mutual and sustainable existence instead of confrontation and exploitation.
I do believe it is possible to co-exist without harming others and the environment. However, the human race needs to pull their act together and take a turn for the better. If we keep living at the expense of other people and the environment, the problem will soon take care of itself. Who knows where we may end up but nature will certainly be stronger than the human race in the long run.
The human race carries a responsibility for the planet we live on and we certainly do not currently live up to that responsibility. What kind of planet to we want to leave for our children?
However, it is good that there are people in this world who do care and who gather to improve the situation. I used to think that one central great initiative is the UN Global Goals for Sustainability movement.
It appears there may be a deeper agenda than that being publicly communicated. While I still support co-operation, I do not want to promote the UN SDGs in particular.
Whatever your personal opinion of the UN’s 17 SDGS, let’s all work together on making the world a better place for everyone. Feel free to ping me if you have any ideas or suggestions on how to best get there.
